Iron Gwazi
Anybody that has been to the popular theme park Busch Gardens Tampa Bay most likely remembers a dueling roller coaster called “Gwazi.” This 105′ tall roller coaster featuring two tracks racing side-by-side at speeds up to 51 mph. It was a once popular roller coaster that opened in 1999 that had a near 16-year run until it’s closure in early 2015. Fast forward about 4 or 5 years to today. That same ride is completely remade. It’s bigger, it’s faster, and it’s back with a vengeance.
Behold “Iron Gwazi!” A 206 foot hybrid coaster with a single track that is guaranteed to pack an even bigger punch. With its 2 added inversions and maximum speed of 76 mph. Originally set to open this summer, this ride will open in 2021, partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Until then, prepare yourselves for what will be an Incredible Ride!
Candymonium
In 2018, Hersheypark (Hershey, PA) made the big announcement of the addition of another major coaster to the park. It was going to be a coaster that topped the stats of the previous tallest roller coaster, Skyrush. This chocolate-colored coaster, a brand new edition to the park’s newest section Hershey’s Chocolatetown, is appropriately named Candymonium.
Created by my favorite roller coaster manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, Candymonium stands at 210 feet tall. That’s a whole 10 feet taller than Skyrush. But that’s not the only area it’s superior in. Candymoium is also 1 mph faster, extends over 1,000 feet longer, and lasts about a minute longer. Sounds like a new number 1 coaster to me.
