Picture something that you’ve always wanted. Something that you’ve dreamed of having. Got it? Now picture that same thing, but times 10! That’s the way we all should be dreaming! Sure, we all have our dreams of having big things, such as a dream car, dream house, or money. For example, someone might dream of making a six-figure salary. That in its own right is an amazing dream to have. But why not dream bigger and shoot for becoming a millionaire. For many, dreams come true. And the bigger one dreams, the more they can have!
My goals and dreams
There are many things that I have dreamt of doing and becoming. Music has been a major part of my life. I learned to sing and read and understand music at a young age. My passion of having a music career began in middle school, I wanted to do it all. Teach, perform, direct, write, you name it! Fast forward close to two decades later and I’m doing just about everything I had dreamed of doing!
I’m currently an elementary school general music teacher and assistant band director for an award-winning high school band program; where I currently direct their show choir band. I’ve performed at a variety of places and venues, both in and out of the country; and with big names such as Steve Turre, Freda Payne, and the late Ellis Marsalis. I’ve also written music that has been performed by many instrumental and vocal ensembles.
I did what I set out to do! And still doing it! Now that I met my goals and my dreams came true, what next? More goals and more dreams. This time, even bigger!
When I dream bigger, have bigger goals, I’m not just taking my career in perspective. It’s the other things that tag along. Money. Travel. Family. And those are just to name a few.
Mo’ Money to end my problems!
Now we’ve heard it being said that money isn’t everything; or money doesn’t equate to happiness. This definitely rings true for me, but I also do believe that money CONTRIBUTES to happiness (not necessarily equating to happiness). That’s a big part of the reason why I decided to Change My Life For the Better! I’m dreaming bigger by saying goodbye to credit card and student loan debt. By saving up at least $10,000 over the next 5 years. By having the ability to give back to my parents for their sacrifices for me! That’s how I’m dreaming bigger financially
I wanna see the world!
As far as traveling, I long to see as much of the world as I can. I’ve experienced life all throughout the southeastern United States. I’ve also been as far west and far north as Washington state. Outside of the country, I’ve toured Spain with the Marshall University Chamber Choir in 2016. And there are so many more places I would love to go. I’m dreaming bigger and wanting to visit multiple countries and cities on every continent! Visiting countries such as England, Italy, Germany, China, Japan, Jamaica, Australia, Greece, and the list goes on!
Family means a lot to me!
My family means a lot to me. I mentioned before that my parents have made many sacrifices to ensure that my siblings and I had what we needed and some of what we wanted. I want to do all I can for them and show my gratitude and appreciation.
As for a family of my own, I want to ensure my future kids are set. They have everything they need and so much more. A lot of good parents want more for their kids. More than they had when they were kids. My parents did that for me and I’m going to do that for mine. Not only do I dream that my kids will be set, but I dream that their kids will be. And their grandchildren. And even maybe their great-grandchildren. My biggest dream for my family is to Start Something That Will Continue. Long after I’m gone.
