Education First: The Homeschooling Way

Growing up, education has been essential in my household. My parents never expected me and my siblings to be on the honor roll (though I was consistently), but they always expected us to try our best. I believe that’s what majority of parents want for their kids. Unfortunately, many kids are either not set up for success or they just simply don’t care to try. With so many flaws in the education system, from outdated materials and unqualified teachers to student behavioral issues and learning disabilities, it is becoming apparent that public schools (and in some cases private schools) are not for everybody. In fact, with the emergence of virtual learning, many parents have resorted to having their children homeschooled. And it has proven to be the better option. Education Comes First and homeschooling is the way for many.

J, aren’t you a public school teacher? Why are you writing about homeschooling?

As I have mentioned several times on this site, I am indeed a public school elementary music teacher. I teach music to over 400 kids every week. Now don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy my job; however, when I bring up the pros and cons of our education system, I pretty much know what I’m talking about. Why? Because I’m seeing them up close.

Now, why am I promoting homeschooling when I’m a public school teacher? It all goes back to the claim that education should come first. Like I said before, public education is not for everyone. Some children learn very quickly. Some children learn at a slower pace. At the end of the day, it’s all about the students and they need to be set up to succeed in academics.

Children that are homeschooled can learn at the pace that is just right for them. They don’t have to feel bad about being behind their classmates or not feeling “as smart.” Or they don’t have to be bored in the classroom and wanting to learn something a lot more advanced.

Plus the parents can fully be involved in their education. Some desire the control over what their kids learn and how they learn it. The Homeschooling Way is just right for them.

Put education first and take some action!

How much does education mean to you?? Is public school the best thing for your child? Do they thrive better in an At-Home or Virtual Learning Environment? What would be the best thing to set your child up for success in academia? Ask yourself these questions.

If public school is the right answer for your child, awesome! Keep at it! But keep in mind that it’s not the only answer. And it’s not the answer for everybody. Homeschooling could be just what your child needs. Step outside the norm of public education and do what could be what’s best for your child. Put Education First and do things The Homeschooling Way!
